DRESS UP you and your bike "ROUTE 66" style - prizes for the best efforts!
Rapid Transit has been a stocking Bike Friday dealer for several years. We have in the store the new,
world's fastest-folding bike with the famous Friday ride, the
tikit,
and we will ne delighted to demonstrate this little beauty for you. Of
course, the point of all this is to get more people on bikes,
specifically folding bikes, and more specifically Bike Fridays.
So,
if you order a Bike Friday on the day of the event, you will receive
$50 off the bike's price, and the first five customers to order will
also receive a complimentary copy of Lynette's movie on DVD. In a rare gesture, we are extending this offer to special orders, not just bikes in stock.
Lynette will be in Chicago
til around August 10, and would love to get folding folks together to
do some rides, socializing and eating of course, so keep an eye on the
the Bike Friday Events Calendar and feel free to offer suggestions of fun things to do! Email Lynette
or call her at 541-513-7711. We will also try to organize a small,
informal ride on the afternoon of August 5, before the screening, so
keep an eye on this page for updates.
More About the Movie: Visit http://www.bikefriday.com/route66.
In April 2006, Race Across America legend Lon Haldeman led 40 cyclists
2,488 miles from LA to Chicago to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of
Route66. Author, world bicycle traveler and handlebar videographer
Lynette Chiang shot a 45-minute DVD video of this journey using a
simple digital camera tucked into her jersey pocket. The movie was made
on a 12" Apple Powerbook using basic Apple software. The movie was
presented in 2006 as a Made on a Mac presentation at the Chicago Apple
Store. If you missed it then, here's another chance to see it and be
inspired to do same!
