I LOVE THIS IDEA!!! We've been trying to our shop owner into a similar setup to prevent 3 week delays in mechanical work in the middle of summmer. I'm so jealous of you guys and your shop, I almost wish I lived in Chicago.

We actually tried it once before, maybe four years ago, but it was more in response to an emergency overload of repairs. I think there is so much pressure on the mechanics during open hours that they reach their physical limit at some point. Our mechanics think it is a welcome change to do repairs in peace and quiet, without the daytime distractions. And we really can't afford the luxury of a separate repair space.
Tell your shop owner to give us a call ;)

This is fantastic! I wish you were my LBS. I enjoy working on my own bike, but my skills are still pretty limited. A couple of days ago, I spent way too long and got way too frustrated trying to fine tune the adjustment on my front derailleur because I wanted to ride the next day and couldn't bear the thought of being without my bike for two or three weeks.

Good luck with the new arrangement!

Justyna

Thank you. Now if only we can get the weather on our side....
