The person on the left is the author of this blog. Once upon a time, she was kidnapped by her bike-messenger husband-to-be, and turned into an urban bike commuter.
Not long after, Justyna and Chris concluded that their educational credentials, in humanities and comparative literature, were incompatible with the practicalities of daily life. So they decided to do something supremely practical instead: go into business for themselves. And not just any business, the bike business. Despite threats and protests of well meaning (and doubtless far more practical) family members, the idea continued to flourish, until in the spring of 1994, they opened Rapid Transit Cycleshop at the corner of North & Wolcott in Chicago. There, they've lived happily ever after, peddling bike stuff and preaching urban commuting to anyone who'd listen.
